Cracks

Cracks

The taxi turns a corner and my tower looms above the evening sky

a stairway from the sewers to the stars, the seller knows i came to buy

Rising as the blue grows black, i’ll survey the glowing cracks, the busy streets below

I’ll see beyond the curving of the earth, i’ll see my fortune in the ground

I’ll be beyond the entropy, you’ll envy me the new jewel in my crown

The muddy pools that line the road shine to me like streams of gold, looking down to earth from where i stand

So I’ll buy, I’ll carry the keys to the sky

Watching the stories/storeys unfold

Holding the deeds in my hands

Then I’ll stand, shoulder to shoulder with giants

Stand there and watch the defiant

Growing fat off the grease of the land

I’ll hide behind my host and view the ages cue the changing of the guard

We’ll pay no mind to those of you who’re falling through the cracks in our facade

We’ll find the fastest way to go, the way the taxi driver knows as he drives the suited through the slum

So I’ll buy, I’ll carry the keys to the sky

Watching the stories/storeys unfold

Holding the deeds in my hands

Then I’ll stand, shoulder to shoulder with giants

Stand there and watch the defiant

Growing fat off the grease of the land

The higher you dare to climb, the harder you tear the seams

So take a look and find who is living in between the cracks in your dream
